About

  • This site provides a daily account of the various projects currently under development at the Sid Lee Collective. A brainchild of Sid Lee, our creative incubator develops, catalyses, promotes and finances various projects that push the notion of Commercial CreativityTM to its limits, and, we hope, beyond.

We offer bursaries and support to our artisans to make their ideas happen. We also welcome submissions from external collaborators. Contact us to submit a project or learn more about the collective.

Also visit Conversational Capital, a Sid Lee blog that offers strategic and creative insight on the engineering of word-of-mouth marketing.

BLACKBOARD BRENT WADDEN - 03

Sid_BBBW04

More pictures of the week in progress for Brent Wadden. He paints, draws & sculpts a ton of shapes…actually the reality is, this Nova Scotia College of Art & Design schooled, now Berlin based artist seems more intent on creatively birthing a Neo-Geometry Grand Guignol. By showing an undulating concern for rebuilding girth, Wadden mutates the minimalism of solid modules into splattered puzzlic monsoons of flooded surface edges. The familial approach to his body of work obsesses an internal rhyme & infernal reason that speaks a vibrational cypher language or maybe even gives sight to a visual binary of his current laundry list, physical history or Canadian family tree.

STARVING ARTISTS - 02

Sid_Starving

Beginning of February, the Amsterdam gallery will stage a first Starving Artists collective show. It is an affordable showcase of the most promising artists and undiscovered talents. There will be 5 artists in the show and today we are presenting one of them : Melinda Santillan.

Sid_SAMS01

Melinda Santillan-Moreno is all over the map. Never in the same place twice, the young Mexican -Canadian artist scours the planet, both physically and virtually. Voyages, like so many of the encounters that shine through in Adieu, herplayfully and rebelliously printed collection of translucent t-shirts. Melinda pushes boundaries, both terrestrial and artistic, combining genres with a rare naivety.

SID LOVES LES FOURMIS - 05

Sid_Fourmis01

Yet again our team of action called Les Fourmis were at it this week, this time to save the trees of the city that are being endangered by the snow machines. They created loud, flashy posters, recycling the electoral posters to preserve the fragile life of the street trees. Now they will strike soon, lookout for their next statement.
